Nancy, Bobbi, Marilyn
My Aunt Agnes passed away a few days ago. I find myself remembering the wonderful times I had visiting her, Uncle Dean, and my cousins Marilyn and Nancy on their farm in Minnesota. One of my best memories is of the time my aunt asked my cousins and I to go gather the eggs in the hen house. My aunt had asked us to "hurry up" because we were going someplace (don't remember where). We already had several eggs in the tin pail when I found one in a nest box several feet away. Even though I knew that eggs break very easily, I decided to "hurry up" by throwing my egg into the pail from where I was standing. I remember the sound of the egg smashing -- and the looks on my cousins' faces when I did that. Feeling very embarrassed I apologized as I walked over and looked down on the mess in the pail. When we got back to the house my cousins and I explained what happened. My aunt both looked a little upset but she also smiled -- and she told my cousins that they had to wash the eggs off. The next time I helped them I was so careful! I am pretty sure this all happened on the visit when this picture was taken. This is Nancy (now Nancy Neus), me, and Marilyn (now Marilyn
Calkins). Happy memories . . .
