WATERLOO — Robert “Bob” Ehlers Sr., 79, of Waterloo, died Thursday, May 3, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home
He was born Oct. 31, 1938, son of Harold and Viola (Fults) Ehlers. He married Margaret “Peg” Schmitz on June 1, 1959, in Preston, Minn.
Bob was raised in Raymond and graduated from East High School in 1956. He and his wife lived in Raymond, Cedar Falls and then largely in Clear Lake. He worked as a truck driver until he joined his wife in her business, Cover-All Embroidery. They retired in 2001.
Survived by: his wife; a son, Bob (Jodi) Ehlers Jr. of Waterloo; two daughters, Shelly Larson of Atlantic and Sherry (Jim) Turner of Elk Run Heights; a brother, Leon Ehlers of Denver; 10 grandchildren, Erica (Ben), Brooke (Michael), Jordan, Jake (Jenn), Jason (Riley), Felicia (Jeremy), April (Caleb), Faith, Abby (Justin) and Jay; and 13 great-grandchildren with two more on the way.
Preceded in death by: his parents; and a brother, Stanley (Lois) Ehlers.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday, May 7, at Walnut Ridge Baptist Church, with burial at Waterloo Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 6, at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service.

Bob loved fishing, boating and taking long walks. He was active in church his whole life and continued at Faith Baptist Church, Mason City. Bob loved the Lord and he wanted others to know and love the Lord, too. He had a great sense of humor, and his laugh was warm and infectious.
